squid on a stick

One thing we missed while away from Taiwan was that crown jewel of market food, that delicacy of the portable stand: squid on a stick. Living by the ocean, squid is plentiful and readily available, so this is some of the freshest stuff you can get – no rubber here. You take them and place them on the grill, cover them with a little sweet-and-sour-like sauce and let them cook up. A shake of seasoning after a minute and you have yourself a tasty piece of seafood fresh from the market!

P.S. I’m also holding an empanada in my other hand. I think Argentines would be offended.
